TADs

A smile is a curve that sets everything straight.

Temporary Anchorage Devices (TADs)

Temporary Anchorage Devices (TADs) are orthodontic mini-implants that precisely control tooth movements during some orthodontic treatments. They are used to correct bite problems which would otherwise require jaw (orthognathic) surgery.

The mini-implant is a very small (1.5 – 2 mm wide) customised titanium alloy screw which acts as an anchor point in your jaw. Mini-implants are frequently placed between the roots of teeth, but may also be sited in the roof of the mouth and are then connected to a fixed brace to help move the teeth.

Example of a temporary anchorage device (TAD)

Case Study: Olivia had a 7mm open bite and Dr. Murphy used TADs to treat this condition thereby avoiding surgery.

AM had a blocked out canine fitted in through the movement of her molar teeth using TADs
